Psychologists and therapists work with children who have been abused, sexually abused, neglected and at risk of domestic violence, helping them on their way back to a better childhood.
A horrified mother comes to the Children’s Crisis Center with her 13-year-old daughter. She feels helpless – she has found cuts all over Aneta’s body. The therapists gave Aneta a safe space to express her pain and she opened up.
When she was home alone with her mother’s new partner, he groped her and took pictures. Aneta didn’t dare defend herself because Pavel was so strong. Eventually, she found out that Pavel was sending her photos somewhere else. She was afraid that her classmates or teachers would see them. And her mother was already worried sick.
Aneta felt trapped. She saw a video on YouTube of girls cutting themselves and heard it was a relief… so she tried it too. At first, it helped, but then it got worse. Besides her soul, her body wounds started to hurt. At the Children’s Crisis Centre, Aneta and her mother found support and professional counselling. They realized that they have solutions. Aneta knows that her mom listens to her and that she does not have to feel alone. And Pavel no longer lives with them…
