…because a shared teddy bear is simply not enough for a happy childhood. Children in institutional care often lack the regular relationships, the exclusive attention given to them, and the experiences that shape a fulfilled childhood.
Some children have to grow up outside of their natural family environment. However, like their peers, they need to feel loved and protected to learn to trust adults and the world. At the Foundation, we help them to enjoy trips and holidays as they should – not to be deprived of experiences that we all cherish for a lifetime. Thanks to pastime programs and time spent in a new environment, without the presence of the care home workers, they can make new friends outside the orphanage grounds.
„I couldn’t wait to go to the summer camp. I packed my suitcase and couldn’t sleep at night, waiting for the bus to arrive. The camp was awesome. I learned a lot of things, like how to row a boat. I’ve finished the night quest and I’m not afraid of the dark anymore. I met girls and boys my age, and we talked about life. I’m so glad I could be there,“ 13-year-old Anička wrote from the summer camp.
It’s not just about education and promoting independence. It is also about experiences and attention that will help them develop in every way and help them live a fulfilled life in the future. It is this chance, along with the gift of a happy childhood, that we wish for all children.
Together we will help children from institutional care to enjoy the experiences that belong to a fulfilled childhood in their free time.
