I want to help return children from institutions back to their families

because children are better off in the safety and love of a family environment than in an institution.

When their mother had to go to prison, sisters Eliška and Sylvie found themselves in institutional care. Despite the complicated upbringing, they had a strong relationship with their mother and missed her. The care home workers decided to foster the relationship and work with the family to ensure that the girls could one day return home. Through video calls and visits, Eliška and Sylvie maintained contact with their mother and grandmother. After their mom’s release, they worked on understanding, tolerance, and plans for the future. The mother started taking the children home for weekends and holidays, and the short stays turned into long ones. Last year, the court granted the mother custody of her daughters. Sylvie still completed ninth grade at the orphanage, while Eliška started a practical school in her hometown. The social workers at the care home helped the girls find stability and return to the family they longed for.

Together, we will change people’s destinies and help more children find their way home from institutional care!
